The Bay Mills Indian
Community of Michigan will debut a bigger off-reservation casino on Saturday.
The facility in Vanderbilt opened last November. It will close for a couple of days to prepare for the 1,400 square-foot expansion, The Gaylord Herald Times reported.
The casino has been controversial. Other tribes say it's illegal and an opinion
issued by the National Indian Gaming
Commission and a letter
from the Interior Department
both say the land doesn't qualify for gaming under the Indian
Gaming Regulatory Act.
