The Shinnecock Nation of New York is said to be considering up to three sites for a potential casino.
According to Newsday and The New York Times, the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the Brookhaven Calabro Airport and a site in Calverton are viable contenders for a casino.
All three are located on Long Island, near the tribe's reservation.
The tribe would have to acquire land for a casino and negotiate a Class III compact. State and local officials have said they are eager to work with the tribe.
The tribe's recognition is due to become final on July 19.
