Jeb Bush won't seize tribe's property for now

TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 2003 Florida Governor Jeb Bush (R) and his Cabinet today ordered negotiations for a possible land swap with the Miccosukee Tribe, the Associated Press reports. Bush and the Cabinet were considering seizing property the tribe owns as part of an $8 billion Everglades restoration project. But after protests from the tribe, Bush said the Department of Environmental Protection should work on a land swap. Get the Story:
