THURSDAY, JUNE 19, 2003

The Department of Interior will meet with the Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa in an attempt to resolve a leadership dispute that has shuttered the tribe's casino.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the National Indian Gaming Commission won't recognize the results of a recent election. Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) wants the parties to come together to see if a settlement can be reached.

A reported 1,300 are out of jobs due to the casino's closure.
