Tribal gun laws
As Americans debate gun restrictions amid the mass shooting epidemic, proposed federal legislation would make it easier for tribal citizens to acquire guns using only their tribal ID.
A number of Native governments prohibit gun possession of any kind, including the Navajo Nation, where violating the law could mean permanent forfeiture.
Wednesday on Native America Calling, we look at current and pending gun laws.
Tribal citizens, and all law-abiding Americans, have a fundamental right to keep and bear arms. I’m leading a bill w/ @SenJohnThune, @MarshaBlackburn, @SenRickScott, @SenatorRounds, @SenKevinCramer, & @SenHydeSmith to protect Tribal members’ #2A rights. ⬇️https://t.co/NNuz23zAv9
