Members of the Navajo Nation
elected Ben Shelly
as president, according to unofficial results, but Lynda Lovejoy won't concede for now.
Shelly won the race with 52 percent of the vote, compared to 47 percent for Lovejoy. But she is urging supporters to file election complaints, citing concerns about a lack of ballots on election day.
"In our case, we just want to make sure it's fair and square," Lovejoy spokesperson Robert Felson told the Associated Press. "The amount that is different is enough reason to give us some hope."
Lovejoy hoped to be the first woman to lead the tribe.
