Members of the Navajo Nation narrowed the field for president of the largest tribe in the U.S.

Lynda Lovejoy won the most votes in the primary on Tuesday. She led the field of 12 candidates with 16,449 votes, the Associated Press reported.

Ben Shelly, the incumbent vice president, followed with 7,504 votes. He will face Lovejoy in the general election in November.

If elected, Lovejoy will be the first woman to lead the tribe.
