The North Dakota Board of
Higher Education will meet today to discuss the future of the "Fighting Sioux" nickname and logo.
The board gave University of North Dakota until October 1 to gain support from the Spirit Lake Dakotah
Nation and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
So far, only Spirit Lake officially backs the nickname and logo.
“We are winning,” American Indian Movement
activists Clyde Bellecourt (White Earth) said at a rally yesterday, The Grand Forks Herald reported.
