The Lac du Flambeau
Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin is proposing a banishment code.
The code allows the tribe to banish members and non-members from the reservation after conducting a hearing and holding a vote. It also provides for emergency exclusions.
The proposal says people can be banished for taking part in "harmful acts" or conspiring with others. Some tribal members have been arrested for protesting against tribal leaders.
