Members of the Lac du Flambeau Band of
Lake Superior Chippewa of Wisconsin voted to sustain the removal of two council members who have criticized the tribe's financial situation.
Tom Maulson and Jerome "Brooks" Big John were removed late last month for being disloyal to the tribal council. Tribal members upheld the decision during a special election last night.
Maulson and Big John said they were targeted for disagreeing with President Victoria Dowd and other tribal leaders. They disagree with the way the tribe is handling its debt and finances.
