Shoshone-Bannock Tribes benefit from stimulus
The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes have received $1.3 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and are hoping to get more funds for projects on the Fort Hall Reservation in Idaho. The tribe is using the $1.3 million for road maintenance and repair. "It will take care of a lot of the roads that have the potholes," executive director Angelo Gonzales told KIFI-TV. The tribe has already spent $19.7 million on a new justice center and hopes to land $3.5 million in stimulus funds to continue the project. "It will give us a place to update our courts. We'll be able to also advance our judges in their training and get police officers training updated. It gives us such a big, big economy boost. So, it will bring us to the 21st century," Gonzales said. Get the Story:
