Tonto Apache Tribe receives $1.8M from stimulus
The Tonto Apache Tribe will use $1.8 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to work on projects with the town of Payson, Arizona.

The tribe, the town and the local sanitation district applied for the money. It will be used to complete the tribe’s sewage treatment plant and build a lake and park in Payson.

The tribe began work on the plant years ago but was unable to secure a permit due to environmental issues. The money will enable the tribe and the town to work around the problem.
