A man and a woman are on trial for attempted murder for allegedly shooting at bounty hunters on the Soboba Reservation in southern California.
The bounty hunters went to the reservation in August 2004 to arrest Dino Allen Moreno, 42, for evading arrest. They stormed the home and said they encountered gunfire by Moreno and Shaundeen Theresa Boniface, 29.
Boniface, who is Indian, was acting in self-defense, her attorney said. She was shot in the chest during the incident.
The prosecutor said Boniface and Moreno fired 21 shots at the bounty hunters so that Moreno could evade capture. Both were later arrested.
