The National Indian Gaming Commission inspected the casino owned by the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians in California on Thursday.
The visit was described as routine though it comes amid fears of violence on the reservation. Three tribal members were shot and killed by Riverside County sheriff's deputies in May and there have been a number of officer-related shootings on or near the reservation.
One incident occurred near the Soboba Casino. But Chairman Robert "Bobby" Salgado Jr. insists the facility is safe even as Sheriff Stan Sniff has called for its closure.
