Yakama council member, 79, arrested for DUIs

A 79-year-old council member for the Yakama Nation of Washington has been arrested or cited three times in the past two months for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Leo Ernest Aleck was arrested on December 14 and was cited again on December 29 by the Washington State Patrol. Just this week, tribal police arrested and jailed him on a DUI charge.

Aleck has a 2005 DUI arrest on his record. When he was stopped on December 14, he was in violation of his probation.

An elected official who has been convicted of drug- or alcohol-related misdemeanors could face sanctions and removal from office.
