Author Sherman Alexie's latest work is up for a National Book Award.
"The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" is a finalist in the Young People's Literature category. The book is Alexie's first foray in the genre.
"I feel a little bit triumphant, which is nice. This morning, I have a happiness hangover," the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene author told The Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
The award winners will be announced November 14.
