Two presidents are working for the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota and no one seems to know whether the situation will be resolved.
The tribal courts appear to be unable to act. There have been conflicting orders and decisions as Alex White Plume and John Yellow Bird Steele claimed to be in control.
Steele won the November 7 election. But White Plume, who was taken off the ballot days before the vote, nullified it and called for new elections.
Steele and other newly-elected leaders were sworn in last week. White Plume continued to occupy the president's office but vacated it over the weekend.
