The Oglala Lakota College has taken control of the Head Start program formerly managed by the Oglala Sioux Tribe.
The college received a $4.7 million grant from the Department of Health and Human Services to run the program. The tribe had relinquished control and shut down the program in response to management concerns.
Classes at the tribe's 26 Head Start and six Early Head Start classrooms will begin October 3.
