Southern Ute Tribe diversifies with real estate


The Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado is buying 33 percent of Belmar, a development in downtown Lakewood.

The purchase price was not disclosed. According to The Denver Rocky Mountain News, the mixed-use development has a completed value estimated at $850 million.

The tribe's total assets are estimated at $1.7 billion. The tribe owns an energy company, a casino and recently began branching out into real estate.
