The Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado has recovered more than $3 million it lost in the collapse of energy giant Enron.
The tribe was an Enron investor and was participating in the bankruptcy case against the failed company. But the tribe is now out of the case after selling its debt to a securities firm. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed but a tribal director said the tribe made a profit.
Enron used to purchase natural gas from Red Willow, the tribe's energy development enterprise. The company failed to pay the tribe for some of the sales.
