Abramoff Scandal
Rep. Ney denies 'tit for tat' in Abramoff scandal

Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio) says he's being accused of taking $32,000 from the Tigua Tribe of Texas and "not doing anything" for the tribe.

In the summer of 2002, Ney had agreed to insert language into an election reform bill to help the tribe reopen its casino. But he backed out after he said he was "duped" by Abramoff.

"Im probably one of the few people in this country who has been accused of a tit for tat because I received $6,000 from Abramoff and we didn't put (the language) in the bill. It's the first time someone has been accused of a tit for tat for not doing anything," Ney said at a campaign stop in Vinton County, The Columbus Dispatch reported.

Ney is facing legal scrutiny over his relationship with Abramoff. He says he will continue to campaign even if he is indicted.
