The Tulalip Tribes of Washington can move forward with housing programs after being cleared by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
"We're out of HUD jail," a tribal attorney told The Everett Herald. "We're not even on probation."
HUD suspended the tribe after finding major problems with its $6 million housing program. The former executive director was sentenced to probation for misusing funds.
Now that all the issues have been resolved, the tribe is working towards a new housing project. By this time next year, 16 new homes will be under construction.
