The Tulalip Tribes of Washington face sanctions for misusing federal housing funds.
An audit by the Department of Housing and Urban Development found that the tribe's housing commission used federal funds for first-class travel, Palm Pilots, cellphones, expensive meals and drinks, laptops, night-vision goggles and whale-watching trips.
The money was supposed to build housing for tribal members.
HUD officials are deciding whether to impose sanctions for the mismanagement. The tribe says it will repay any misspent money.
