Tulalip Tribes back on track with HUD program

The Tulalip Tribes of Washington now have full access to federal housing funds.

The tribe's housing program was suspended after the Department of Housing and Urban Development found problems with the use of more than $12 million in federal funds. The former housing authority ended up pleading guilty to embezzlement.

The tribe started a new housing agency and responded to HUD's concerns. An audit has cleared the way for the tribe regain full access to its HUD grants.
