California tribes have eyes on future elections

Six California tribes who raised more than $9 million for their new political committee saw most of the candidates they supported win election on Tuesday.

Team 2006 spent $2.9 million on behalf of nine candidates, mostly Republicans. Eight of the candidates won their races.

The committee still has $6.3 million. "No one ever said Team 2006 was going away after the election,'' spokesperson Jacob Mejia told The Palm Springs Desert Sun.

The members of Team 2006 are the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, the Pechanga Band of Luiseo Indians, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, the Soboba Band of Luiseo Indians and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.
