Six California tribes who formed a political committee are spending even more money on several campaigns.
Team 2006 was funded with an initial donation of more than $3 million. The six tribes have since poured more money into the committee in hopes of electing friendly candidates.
The candidates include Republican Tony Strickland for controller. The tribes have spent $958,480 to support his campaign.
Others who have received support include Republican Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia ($259,267), Republican Sen. Jeff Denham ($494,346) and Democratic Assemblywoman Nicole Parra $422,097)
The members of Team 2006 are the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, the Pechanga Band of Luiseo Indians, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, the Soboba Band of Luise�o Indians and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.
Agua Caliente Chairman Richard Milanovich said the tribes could end up spending more than $9 million.
