The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin is hosting several events to coincide with National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month.

The tribe is holding a Women's Wellness Fair, a sweat lodge and other programs. "We want to give women outlets for when they're struggling in their relationships," Gene Red Hail Oneida Domestic Violence program told The Green Bay Press-Gazette. "To identify that there are people who can help them."

According to statistics, one out of every three American Indian and Alaska Native women are raped in their lifetimes. Native women are assaulted and battered at rates far higher than their counterparts.
