Late Navajo artist R.C. Gorman accused of abuse

A 51-year-old man is accusing the late Navajo artist R.C. Gorman of sexually abusing him as a child.

Geoffrey Dunn said the incident occurred in 1967, when he was 12 years old. He said his father found out about it and told Gorman to stay away from his family.

Dunn kept quiet but said he came forward after a television reporter in New Mexico showed him evidence that Gorman was involved in other incidents of child sexual abuse.

The FBI, according to documents obtained by KRQE-TV, investigated Gorman in the 1990s but never brought charges because the statute of limitations expired. The case was later dropped.

Gorman died last November at the age of 74. A former assistant is seeking half of his estate, claiming he helped create some of his works.
