R.C. Gorman, the famed Navajo artist, has been hospitalized in New Mexico with a severe case of double pneumonia.
Gorman, 74, became seriously ill at his home near Taos. After being treated at a local hospital, he was admitted to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque on September 26, where he remains. A niece said there has been no change in his condition in the five weeks he has been hospitalized.
Gorman is best known for his paintings and sculptures. He is the son of Navajo Code Talker Carl Gorman.
