Judge Royce C. Lamberth is the third judge to be removed from case by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
The first two removals came in the federal government's Microsoft anti-trust case. One of them praised Lamberth.
"He is a hero and should be treated as a hero," Stanley Sporkin, who retired in 2000, told The Washington Post.
Lamberth, a former federal prosecutor, was appointed to the bench by the late president Ronald Reagan. He earns high marks from those who appear in his court, even those who are on the losing side of the stick.
Everyone except the Bush administration, that is. The D.C. Circuit said Lamberth has sided too often against the Interior Department only to be reversed on appeal.
