Elouise Cobell, the lead plaintiff in the Indian trust fund lawsuit, visited the Navajo Nation on Thursday to update account holders on the lawsuit and hear their concerns.
Cobell spoke to more than 100 people at the Huerfano Chapter House in Huerfano, New Mexico. This case is about fixing an accounting system, she said, The Farmington Daily Times reported.
About 8,000 Navajo beneficiaries live in the Four Corners area of the Navajo Nation. Throughout the reservation, a tribal representative estimated that 40,000 to 50,000 Navajos are affected by the lawsuit.
