Cook Inlet Region Inc., an Alaska Native regional corporation, is seeing mixed success with its hotel ventures.
A Westin Kierland resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, that CIRI invested in is being sold for $393 million. The corporation will see a double-digit profit, a spokesperson said.
Other CIRI properties aren't doing as well. The Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas lost $1.2 million, the Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas lost $13.8 million and the Casino MonteLago at Lake Las Vegas lost $10 million last year.
CIRI expects Hyatt to become profitable soon. A new property, the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort in Austin, Texas, is scheduled to open June 1.
