An Alaska Native regional corporation is making its first venture into the wireless market with an $80 million investment.

Together, Cook Inlet Region Inc. and T-Mobile USA were the high bidders on 36 wireless licenses in major markets throughout the U.S. The partnership paid a little over $235 million, The Anchorage Daily News reported. CIRI is the controlling partner.

Other Alaska Native corporations have invested in wireless and have reaped huge financial benefits.
