A deal has been reached over the construction of a civic center in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Tesuque Pueblo has agreed to drop objections to the $55 million center now that the city has agreed to reduce the size of the parking garage. The tribe and the city say fewer remains will be disturbed as a result.
Any remains and artifacts that are discovered will be reburied on site. A tribal member will observe the excavation.
The work site is located on top of an historic Pueblo village. Tesuque is the closest Pueblo to Santa Fe.
