Tribe fights development on ancestral home

A New Mexico tribe is trying to stop development on top of its ancestral home in downtown Santa Fe.

Tesuque Pueblo says the city is moving forward with a $54 million civic center without consulting the tribe. Another site should be picked, the tribe says.

Some human remains and artifacts have already been uncovered at the site, which dates between A.D. 1350 and 1400. State archaeologists have recommended that no development occur.
