After facing months of criticism, Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Montana) will return $150,000 in donations from former tribal clients and associates of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Burns will return money he received from tribes back to the tribes. But the money he received from Abramoff and associates will be given to a Native American charity.
"I can think of no better use of Mr. Abramoffs contributions than to assist a charity that serves the very folks he wronged," he said in a statement.
Burns received more money from Abramoff than any other member of the House or Senate. He called on all politicians and political action committees to return Abramoff donations.
