The First Nations University of Canada fired its international projects director on Monday, citing financial reasons.
Leonzo Barreno said he was "confused and shocked" to learn that he was terminated.
He is the latest in a string of top administrators to be removed from their positions.
The FNUC board said it is working to address financial and mismanagement issues at the school.
Classes are set to resume next month, although FNUC won't be making any new hires or replacing the people who have been fired or suspended in hopes of balancing its budget.
