"So who's old?
A century ago, the answer was easy: I would be old right now. The average person lived 47 years in North America. Only a small percentage of the population made it into their 60s or 70s. In the year 2000, the average life expectancy in this country topped 77 years and it's increasing by 2.5 years every decade. By 2050, demographers expect this country's life expectancy to reach 90.
The living-longer trend is as global as the Rolling Stones' tour. The average citizen of the world born today should reach 63 years; in India it's 64; in China, it's 72; and in Mexico, the age is 75.
The baby boom is on stage and we're rocking."
