"My Social Security "statement" arrived in the mail last week. The paper estimates benefits for my early retirement, full retirement (for me, that is supposed to be available at 66 years and 6 months) as well as projections for disability and survivor stipends.
The government form also includes a commercial for Social Security reform. First, there's a bit about my responsibility: 'Social Security is the largest source of income for most elderly Americans today. It is very important to remember that Social Security was never intended to be your only source of income when you retire. Social Security can't do it all. You will also need other savings, investments, pensions or retirement accounts to make sure you have enough money to live comfortably when you retire.'"
