The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma and the state of New York have agreed to seek a delay in the state's case against the tribe's bingo hall.
The tribe and state say the case should be delayed because they reached a settlement in the tribe's land claim. If the settlement is approved, the tribe won't build the bingo hall.
The tribe instead will get to open a casino in the Catskills. The deal is the first time a state has settled a land claim with an out-of-state tribe for gaming rights.
A hearing in the bingo hall case was scheduled for December 20.
