Rep. Trent Franks
(R-Arizona) will introduce a bill tomorrow to block the Tohono O'odham Nation of
Arizona from opening an off-reservation casino.
Franks says the tribe is misusing a land claim settlement act to open the West Valley
Resort. His bill will amend the Gila Bend Indian Reservation Lands Replacement Act of 1986, which compensated the tribe for lands it lost to flooding.
Franks will discuss his bill at a press conference in Glendale on Friday. Officials in the city oppose the casino.
