Opponents of the Tohono O'odham Nation off-reservation casino will meet for a panel discussion on Wednesday.
The Glendale Chamber of Commerce is hosting the panel. Only opponents to the casino have been invited to speak even though the tribe recently joined the chamber.
“We’re opposed to the casino," chamber president Don Rinehart told The Glendale Daily News-Sun. "The panel was never meant to be a debate on the pros and cons of the issue. We wanted to give the groups who are against this thing an opportunity to get together and all explain their reasoning.”
The tribe owns 135 acres near Glendale. A federal judge ruled that the land can be placed in trust despite efforts by the city to annex it.
