Chairman Coly Brown of the Winnebago Tribe released the following statement on April 18, 2020, in connection with the leak of sensitive CARES Act data by the federal government.
“Tribes do not like to share their data but in order to access these critical funds to protect the health and safety of our members under the CARES Act, we did. Now, our worst fears are confirmed and there has been a leak of that data. I worry about the lasting impact and damage to our Tribal Nations by this leak. I echo the call for an immediate investigation into the matter.”
