Meskwaki Tribe works to resolve dispute

MONDAY, MAY 5, 2003 Factions of the Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa are trying to resolve their difference in hopes of preventing the closure of their casino. According to the Associated Press, an agreement is likely to include sharing of power between the appointed council and the elected council. There would also be a new election. The National Indian Gaming Commission is threatening to fine the tribe up to $20,000 a day. Get the Story:
