Kickapoo judge urges decision on recall vote
Thursday, December 18, 2003

A judge for the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma gave the tribe's election board more time to rule on an election that ousted chairman Tony Salazar.

Tribal members voted Salazar out of office by a 168 to 150 vote on Saturday. But the election board did not certify the results, anticipating a challenge by Salazar, the election board's attorney said.

Kickapoos for Honest Government is leading the fight against Salazar, whom they accuse of conflict of interest, embezzling and other charges. Salazar denies any wrongdoing.
