1. FOR TRIBAL LEADERS:
WHCNAA TRIBAL LEADER ENGAGEMENT SESSION, JANUARY 31, 2022, 1PM – 3:30PM EST
The White House Council on Native American Affairs (WHCNAA) will host its first engagement session with Tribal leaders on January 31, 2022, as announced by WHCNAA co-chair Secretary Haaland at the 2021 White House Tribal Nations Summit.
Following this inaugural session, WHCNAA-Tribal leader engagement sessions will occur three times a year, in addition to the Tribal Nations Summit. The goal of the Tribal leader engagement sessions is for Tribal leaders to have meaningful input on the policies and deliverables of the WHCNAA.

2. GRANTS:
ACCESS TO ANCESTRAL LANDS GRANT OPPORTUNITY
First Nations First Nations is now accepting applications under the Access to Ancestral Lands grant opportunity within the California Tribal Fund.
First Nations expects to award 12 to 15 grants averaging $35,000 to California-based tribes or tribally-controlled non-profit organizations as they work toward strengthening California-based Indigenous stewardship and protection of ancestral lands. The purpose of the grant is to increase California Tribal people’s access to ancestral homelands.
This grant is made possible through the generous support of the Elizabeth R. & William J. Patterson Foundation, the Clarence E. Heller Charitable Foundation, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, and the Walter and Elise Haas Fund.
Grant PeriodThe grant period for this funding opportunity will be 18 months, commencing March 1, 2022, and ending August 31, 2023. Grant Award Ceilings
Total requests for project budgets within this funding opportunity should not exceed $35,000. Grant Submission Deadline
All applicants must complete the First Nations online grant application, including submission of necessary attachments. Proposals will be due Monday, January 31, 2022, no later than 5 pm PT.
3. FOR STUDENTS:
MANAGEMENT LEADERSHIP FOR TOMORROW GMAT COACHING
It’s common to underestimate the time and energy it takes to get the score you want.
MLT’s GMAT Coaching is a virtual program designed to help you improve your GMAT score. Created by a veteran GMAT coach, our services include an individual roadmap, one-on-one sessions, weekly group calls, and ongoing access to personalized strategies and resources.
MLT offers two options for GMAT Coaching, the GMAT Coaching Roadmap, and the Full GMAT Coaching Program. Admissions are conducted on a rolling basis.
- GMAT Coaching Roadmap- Get personalized recommendations to improve your score in specific areas. The cost is $150 for our Four-Week Action Plan.
- Full GMAT Coaching Program – Comprehensive GMAT coaching program includes personalized feedback, 1:1 coach calls, engagement with a community of peers, and access to a resource site. Participants engage with GMAT Coaching for approximately six months, starting with the Four-Week Action Plan. The cost is $100 to access our Four-Week Action Plan, plus a $300 program fee due upon acceptance.

5. FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS:
ONE WEEK LEFT TO APPLY FOR THE 2022 LEADERSHIP SUMMIT
The NAFOA Leadership Summit has provided Native American youth and young professionals the opportunity to learn about the current issues and policies impacting tribal economic development.
This year, the 2022 Leadership Summit will be held on Sunday, April 3 in Seattle, WA. Applications are due Monday, January 31.
Summit attendees learn directly from tribal leaders and business professionals during a full day of programming that provides panel discussions regarding graduate school, career advancement, along with business and tribal economic development topics. Following the Summit, participants attend the 40th NAFOA Annual Conference. The two-day conference provides networking opportunities and facilitates important dialogues about tribal finance and economic issues impacting tribal economies.
The Leadership Summit is open to application for:
- Native American/indigenous young professionals 21-26 years old who participated in Career Basics (last day to register for Career Basics: January 31)
- Must be located within the United States.
- Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in learning more about the importance of tribal economies and the policies that impact tribal finance.
