The Biden Administration has announced that they will be hosting the 2021 Tribal Nations Summit the week of November 8th 2021. The specific dates and time will be posted in a follow-up announcement. This will be the 9th Tribal Nations Summit and the first Tribal Nations Summit held by the White House in over 4 years. As the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing, the summit will be held virtually this year.

The administration is holding the summit to discuss with Tribal leaders on key issues, policy initiatives, and goals for Indian Country. The Biden Administration will keep Tribal leaders updated about further details will be posting follow up announcements in the near future. The registration will be due in a month from now on October 22, 2021.

The Department of Interior is inviting federal recognized tribes to consult on “several topics related to the protection and restoration of Tribal homelands”. Topics are to include: land-into-trust, leasing and rights-of-way, and sacred sites and treaty rights. Written input is required before November 5th.

To best accommodate Tribes’ locations and ensure everyone’s safety, we will be holding virtual sessions scheduled by time zone. Any Tribal leader unable to make the session reserved for the time zone in which his or her Tribe is located is welcome to join an alternate session.

To accommodate students and young professionals’ busy schedules, NAFOA is extending registration and participation for Career Basics until January 2022. Students can register and complete the curriculum from now until the new program end date.

The NAFOA Institute Career Basics (formerly known as The NAFOA Academy) is an online career readiness and personal finance program designed for 18-26-year-old Native American youths. The program offers coursework that provides opportunities for participants to improve career readiness, personal finance skills, and advance their understanding of issues impacting tribal economies.

Career Basics is free and open to eligible youths. Coursework within this track is designed to prepare youth for the NAFOA Leadership Summit.

Students and families can join the American Indian College Fund to learn about Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and receiving money for school. Get your questions answered about filling out the application at the FAFSA Help Night on September 30th. The FAFSA application opens on OCT 1, so now is the perfect time!

The Compliance Supervisor supervises daily activity on assigned shift. Ensures compliance to required Internal Controls, Tribal, Federal, and State Gaming Laws and regulations. Conduct gaming machine audits, compliance audits, and investigations as assigned. Perform machine compliance and testing of all software and components.
