Join a group of Indian Country professionals to review and provide expert understanding of the 2020 Compliance Supplement published on August 18, 2020 and the recently published 2020 Compliance Supplement Addendum.
Our panelists will provide an in-depth overview of the recently published 2020 Compliance Supplement Addendum, including SEFA reporting changes, deadline extensions, and covered programs. The webinar will also discuss an overview of recent legislation that impacts COVID-19 programs and other compliance information about the Coronavirus Relief Fund, Provider Relief Fund, Indian Community Development Block Grant, and FFATA changes.

NAFOA SEEKS FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT POLICY SPECIALIST
NAFOA is seeking a Financial Management Policy Specialist to join our team. Primary roles and responsibilities including: seeks and maintaining knowledge and awareness of current accounting, investment, and economic development issues, policies having a potential impact on tribes, trends, theories, and research in financial management; develops and planning programs, services, special webinar, and in-person education events to support professional development objectives based on NAFOA’s organizational goals; and more.
Advanced degree preferred (law or MBA) or experience may be substituted for education in the primary areas required for this role (e.g., research, policy, business management, finance, or equivalent). Three years of experience in the general topic area of federal Indian policy. Prior government or industry experience may be substituted for direct policy experience.

INCOME TAX GUIDE FOR NATIVE AMERICAN INDIVIDUALS AND SOLE PROPRIETORS EVENT
You are invited to join us for a free Zoom meeting hosted by the office of Indian Tribal Governments introducing the new IRS Publication 5424, Income Tax Guide for Native American Individuals and Sole Proprietors (PDF) (rev. 9/2020).
This meeting will familiarize you with this new publication which discusses the tax treatment of certain income unique to Native American individuals and sole proprietors and helps in preparing their tax returns.
Each session is limited to the first 950 participants.

4. POLICY:
MEMORANDUM ON TRIBAL CONSULTATION AND STRENGTHENING NATION-TO-NATION RELATIONSHIPS
On Tuesday, January 26, President Joe Biden issued a Memorandum On Tribal Consultation And Strengthening Nation-to-nation Relationships. The memorandum reaffirms the policies and directives of Executive Order 13175, which “charges all executive departments and agencies with engaging in regular, meaningful, and robust consultation with Tribal officials in the development of Federal policies that have Tribal implications.”

5. FOR STUDENTS:
OFFICE OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY & RENEWABLE ENERGY ROBOTICS SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Internships will last for 10 consecutive weeks from May to September 2021 at a Department of Energy national laboratory. Interns will be assigned to research projects and/or other technical activities under the guidance of a mentor.
Recent high school graduates, postgraduates with an associate degree, and undergraduate students will receive a stipend of $600 per week. Graduate students and postgraduates will receive $750 per week.
Interns will be reimbursed for inbound-outbound travel expenses to their appointment site, up to a combined maximum of $1,000 for participants who live more than fifty miles, one-way, from the assigned laboratory.
