By this time next week, the Navajo Nation will finally have a new leader.

Russell Begaye and his running mate, Jonathan Nez, will be sworn in on May 12 at the BeeHoldzil Fighting Scouts Events Center in Fort Defiance, Arizona. The duo emerged victorious last month after a drawn-out and contentious election cycle.

"We are very thankful for the support of the Navajo people and we invite all of the Navajo Nation, along with chapter, state, county and federal officials, to celebrate with us on this very special occasion," Begaye said in a press release.

For those who can't attend the ceremony, it will be available online on Ustream. The inauguration starts at 10:30am Navajo time.

Begaye succeeds President Ben Shelly, who remained in office despite being ousted in last year's primary.
