Oneida Nation to discuss racist Washington mascot with NFL

The Oneida Nation of New York meets with the NFL on Wednesday to discuss the racist Washington team's mascot.

The meeting was arranged after the tribe launched the Change the Mascot campaign. Radio ads have been aired in football markets to call for an end to the team's use of Indian imagery.

The American Indian Movement and Idle No More protested the name at a game between Washington and Denver in Colorado on Sunday.

"What we did today was part of a larger national movement of Native people to put pressure, continue to put pressure, escalating pressure on the Washington football organization, and to emphasize that this kind of racism against Native people is not going to stand,” Glenn Morris, an AIM representative, told The Washington Post.
